I just took my steering apart to paint. Of course the ball bearings fell out, but i found them all. Anyway, when I put if back together, the bottom bearing washer thing is too small for the steering column. Does anyone understand what I am saying? The bearing washer won't fit all the way down the bottom of the column. It tapers out & it's too small. What am I doing wrong? Did I miss something? I can try to post a pic if that helps.

When you install them be prepared to tighten them after they settle. Take it for a gentle ride then check and tighten them. Don't try to seat them by getting gnarly with the wrench when you install them. Be aware that the upper and lower are different sizes, so match up the old races after you remove them.
