cleaned all the contacts didnt make a bit of difference. then i went for a ride and by chance met a mechanic who heard what was going on and checked my vacum lines with a propane tank, they were good. he suggested i get the carbs cleaned and stuff inthem replaced since it set so long.the yamaha dealership told me they would do it for $200, sounds better than fair since i work 70 hours a week and dont have time now to learn how to do it. i am still confused on why it only does it (backfires) when it gets hot. so although this isnt solved yet i will probably have it solved in a few weeks. thanks

if you took out the air filter and it ran better (no backfire) and when it was cold it did not backfire... i would say you are running too rich.. have you pulled out the plugs to see how they are burning??....dan

yeah they were burning right, but it did backfire without airfilter just not as quickly
