Well, the 82 models came with clip on, 2 piece, bars. They say they are movable for comfort, etc. Truly, theyre a horribly fit, in my humble view. The overwhelming majority of folks take OFF the 82 stuff and replace with round bar. As sure as they can make round bar ft in the 82 Im sure you could do something to make the 82 fit onto yours, but I havent done it, so I dont know. But you should probably be able to find some cheap.

Why would you want to change from your '96 parts to '82 parts?

The 82 750 had 7/8" round bars and I imagine the risers would work if the mounting post is the same diameter.
The early '90's model 750's had a higher riser but the mounting post was larger.

The wheels off an '82 will not work w/o some heavy modifications . .
some members have painted the stock '84+ wheels and I've seen a set that was chromed also.

only reason for the risers is one is bent and replacements are really expensive but the 80s modes are pretty cheap i really want to change the handlebars i don't like the buckhorn style at all (i think its called)

Oh yeah, I forgot the 82 920, specifically, was the only one with the square bars.

The 82 wheels will work. You will need the 82 speedometer drive hub and cable, but use your right side spacer to center the wheel. The rear will require the proper brake plate, as the brake diameter is smaller than your current one. You will probably have to make spacers to correctly center the wheel. The 82 front wheel is the same size as yours, but the rear is 16 inches in diameter and is more narrow than your current wheel.. Your stock rear wheel is 15 inches in diameter.
The 82 risers won't work on your bike. They are too short and the bars will hit the indicator light cluster. Check out ebay. There are usually several sets of used Virago risers at decent prices listed there.
The 82 bars are no better than the ones you have now. They are also buckhorn style and very uncomfortable, IMHO. I would recommend bars for a 70's to 80's model Honda. Mine are off a mid 70's CB550 and are much more comfortable than the stock bars. Just make sure you get 7/8 inch diameter bars.
