was wondering if anyone has diagrams showing where all the hoses go to and from on my 85 xv700 ... pictures in manual I have arent very clear at all

thank you for the quick response and the diagram you posted.. but your diagram shows two petcocks. mine have only one. also which hose goes to which nipple on the carb holder?

[it's simple really] the size of the hose matches the size of the nipple on the carb holder...if you put the petcock in the prime position fuel will flow identifying the fuel line...since you're only dealing with manifold vacuum the source is the same for all vacuum lines

ok thank you again.. my reason for my questions is this... when i bought this bike it had hoses blocked off and one of the nipples on the mixture control valve was not bearing a hose.. my friend decided we should replace all hoses so he had me go out and buy vacuum and fuel line and attempted to figure where everything goes.. well we still dont have a second hose going to the mixture control valve... thus my needing a very clear diagram showing where each hose goes exactly.. Im sorry for being such a pain.. but Id like to get riding again... oh by the way.. originally when I got the bike I rode it some and after about 300 miles the bike sputtered and bucked... then once when I went to start it got a loud backfire and that was it.. needed to get bike towed home on back of a borrowed pickup... we all thought after reading viragotech that it was the CDI that was bad.. well after buying one we decided to also clean out the carbs and found that the y-32 needle was not in place and bent.. so I went and bought a new needle finished cleaning the carbs good and the rest Ive mentioned with the replacing the vacuum and fuel lines... and now here we are lol hope that didnt bore you...

so is there a place where i can find a better diagram Im even willing to discard the mixture control valve altogether if itll make life easier.. before removing the tank to have it painted we did get the bike to run .. well for at least the 15 minutes we tried it.. then drained everything to move from florida up to virginia where i am now located.. now tank is all painted and just figured while it was off if I should readjust all the hoses correctly.. thanks again for your help

viragos do not have a CDI they have a TCI and there is a major difference between the two...also if you delete the extra petcock system in the diagram you will be looking at your exact hose hookup for your bike...with all due respect it's not rocket science: remove the mcv...cap the large and small nipples on the one carb holder that supports them and run a vacuum line from the other carb holder to the petcock...voila

yes i stand corrected it was the TCI not CDI.. :: bows head:: ok thanks Ill go through all the hoses and cap off the unneeded nipples, reroute the hoses.. and let you know how it turned out.. might take me a week or so to find the time.. my wife informs me we need to take an emergency trip for one of her family members (ugh) thanks once again..

i wasn't trying to one up ya on the ignitor [you can call it that to avoid all confusion] it's just better if we're all on the same page term-wise when discussing issues

Hey grazingazer my sincerest apologies.. I should have written back to to thank you for your help.. I capped off the two front nipples and ran the line from the petcock to the last nipple which was closest to the petcock.. thank you so much for the instructions great help!! :)))
